Santiago High School
Track & Field Renovation – Corona-Norco Unified School District
Armstrong & Brooks was selected by WLC Architects to perform Civil Engineering services for the renovation of Santiago High School’s existing stadium site within the City of Corona. The project is a challenge because of the time constraints involved in removing and replacing the stadium components (bleachers, track & field) without significantly affecting the on-going activities at the campus. Bleacher expansion necessitated numerous changes to the stadium’s existing path-of-travel, including additional ramping and stairs.
Armstrong & Brooks prepared and processed Improvement Plans, Specifications and Estimates for Grading & Drainage and On-Site Sewer & Water together with the required technical studies and reports. Services also include construction support for review and recommendations pertaining to contractor’s request for information and construction contract change orders.
In addition to performing a field topographic and design survey to establish the horizontal and vertical location of existing improvements at join locations, Armstrong & Brooks performed a boundary survey and analysis as part of its scope with the District to prepare a Record of Survey documenting recent District acquisitions.
The renovation required coordination of several submittal packages in an effort to accommodate the construction manager’s schedule for completion. Armstrong & Brooks worked in conjunction with WLC Architects to overcome the complexities involved in processing multiple submittal packages for a single work area, including demolition plans and future points of connection to ensure a smooth transition from one phase to the next.
