Eastvale Elementary School Additions

Eastvale Elementary School Additions

Corona-Norco Unified School District

Armstrong & Brooks was selected by PCH Architects to perform Civil Engineering services for the expansion of the existing 10± acre site in the unincorporated area of Riverside County. This site was a challenge because of the lack of gradient across the site. The integrity of the existing facilities (12,900 s.f. of classroom and administration) needed to be protected in place while adding approximately 29,150 s.f. of classroom, administration and multipurpose room facilities, 16,800 s.f. of modular classroom facilities and an acre of parking to the site.

In addition to preparing and processing Improvement Plans, Specifications and Estimates for Grading & Drainage, On-Site Fire Supply, On-Site Sewer & Water and the required technical studies and reports, Armstrong & Brooks prepared and processed Plans, Specifications and Estimates for Public Street Improvements, Signing & Striping and Street Lighting, including the legal descriptions and plat maps for additional right-of-way dedication for three Master Planned Streets with the following street widths: 152’, 118’ and 74’. A&B prepared street improvement plans for Orange Street, Cleveland Avenue and Schleisman Road for approval by the County of Riverside. This consisted of cross-sectional design survey, and ½ street improvements for the ultimate right-of-way for all three streets. Design consisted on the generation of street cross-sections, street improvement plans, signage and striping and streetlight plans for Riverside County Transportation Department. Services also required the preparation and processing of Plans, Specifications and Estimates for Master Planned Storm Drain, Sewer and Water Facilities through the local Community Services District.

The existing topography required a detailed survey of the existing site improvements in order to design and detail of a combination of surface and sub-surface drainage improvements to convey the flows from the site in a safe and non-destructive manner without importing additional material to the site. The project has also required considerable coordination with the County Transportation Department, Jurupa Community Services District and the Design Teams for the nearby Middle and High School projects being prepared concurrently with the Eastvale Elementary School Additions.
